The Miracle of the Red Hat

In 1991 my daughter got me a red hat with a black ribbon around it that tied into a bow at the back for Christmas. I really loved that hat but I never had anything to wear with it. She sent it in a very beautiful hat box, since I didn't wear it I kept it in the box and hung the box on the wall because it was so pretty. Every couple of years I would pull the hat out and think that one day I would have something to wear it with.

Two weeks ago my husbands company was having their Christmas party and while I was trying to find something to wear I pulled out my hat. "Gee," I thought to myself, "I would really like to wear my hat." We have been having financial problems this year so there was no way I could go out and buy something to wear so I put the hat back in the box and hung it back up on the wall, not really thinking much more about it.

Last week was the Christmas dinner for our Church and I wanted to wear something fancy. I am not a fancy dresser, actually I have been told quite often that I am frumpy! After church on Wednesday night I asked one of the women at our church, who is a fancy dresser, if she might have something that I could borrow to wear to the dinner. She said she would check and let me know. She called me Thursday morning and said she was going to ask her Aunt Rebecca because she didn't have anything. Her Aunt goes to our church too and she is a real nice dresser. She called me back that afternoon and asked what size shoes I wore, I thought that she had something and wanted to see if the shoes that matched it would fit me. That night my husband went out to the church to meet Renee and pick up the outfit for me. He came back and said "Rebecca said Merry Christmas" She gave me a beautiful dress and she went out and bought me a pair of shoes and hose to match it. I couldn't believe it! I am not used to people doing nice things like that for me. God is so good, and most of the time we don't take the time to realize it. Well the dress was black and red and the shoes were red, they matched my hat perfectly! That showed me that out Heavenly Father knows the smallest most insignificant desires of our hearts and He gives them to us in ways that we would never imagine. I never would have asked God for an outfit to match that hat, but He knew that I wanted one and He sent one to me. God is so good, I just wanted to tell everyone of His great love for us. This may seem like a small silly thing to some, but it was a giant I Love You from our Father to me. This also showed me that I need to take time and look at all the blessings that God gives that I don't always recognize. I want to say Thank You Lord, I love you.
